Description

Medical education is increasingly focused on community engagement as a method of improving population health. Innovative software applications developed locally, allowed 140 preclinical medical students to learn how to use data to identify Suffolk County, NY populations at increased risk for cancer, chronic illness, and health disparities. Students utilized data discovery to identify the problems and as a team based exercise developed potential solutions.
