Description

Little is known about the informatics skillset of personnel in small rural hospitals. We developed a pilot informatics competency assessment to better understand workforce educational and training needs. Findings suggest that senior leaders perceive that personnel within their organization lack the skills and knowledge to fulfill basic health informatics and analytics competencies. Providing targeted education and training to personnel within small rural hospitals has the potential to improve system performance and patient outcomes.
