Developing an innovative graduate level patient engagement and technology seminar was a need identified as part of a Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute community-academic partnership. Building upon literature review, patient-guidance, curriculum review, and patient-centered research experience, the resulting seminar exposed PhD nursing students to state-of-the-art engagement techniques, to support patient-centered care and culture change through building interdisciplinary relationships, and to leading engagement and healthcare design initiatives, which incorporate health information technology.
