Description

Program directors at the University of Oklahoma School of Community Medicine used an established teaching pedagogy focusing upon adult learning to develop an informatics curriculum for medical students. We used Knowles’ Five Principles of Andragogy to increase student engagement, enrich learning, and promote self-discovery. We present our preliminary findings including qualitative feedback and sample projects. After attending this session, the audience should be able to operationalize an adult learning theory for informatics curriculum development.
